Human Alliance Managing Principal, Joe Shaheen, was hosted by CNN Headline News’ (CNN HLN) Vinnie Politan this week to talk about jobs after the most recent Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report. Shaheen and Politan talked about HR insider secrets for job seekers that could help them find their next great career opportunity. Shaheen’s years as an executive recruiter, and as a talent consulting practice group leader has allowed him to gain considerable access into the inner workings of the Human Resource (HR) department, and on Making it in America, he shared some of his experience.
In his interview, Joe discussed 3 tips that could help new and current job seekers find a career during this holiday season. The first was to keep applying to jobs all throughout the holiday because most HR departments are still collecting resumes throughout. The second tip focused on advising job seekers not to apply to too many positions within any particular company and to focus less their applications be seen as span by HR managers.
The third and last was that you must move on and continue applying for new positions especially if HR does not respond back to your job application—most HR departments don’t respond back to every application.
